Get the 3X5 Cavalry Guideon Flag $24.99 Confederate First National Flag The Confederate First National Flag was adopted but never officially enacted. For 25 five days, the Confederate States of America had no officially-approved flag. In their haste to have a flag prepared for their fast-approaching flag raising ceremony on March 4, 1861, Congress neglected to formally enact a flag law. Still, this flag, the Confederate First National Flag, was raised for the first time and flew over the capitol building in Montgomery, Alabama. It featured seven stars, representing the Confederate States. By the third week of May, two or more stars were added to represent newly-joined Virginia and Arkansas. By July, North Carolina and Tennessee joined the Confederacy and the number of stars increased to eleven. As the Confederate States of America reached its zenith, admitting Kentucky and Missouri in December, the flag was changed to carry a circle of 13 stars. During battle, this flag was sometimes confused with the Union Stars and Stripes, and was therefore it was replaced by the 2nd National flag in 1863. On the nights of June 16 & 17, 1775,  American colonists fortified Breed's and Bunker Hills overlooking Boston Harbor. Although independence had not been officially declared, a fight brewed. When the British advanced up the slopes, they saw an early New England flag -- possibly a red or blue banner. Many early Colonial flags had been made by altering the English flag, and most still contained a reference to the mother country. This flag indicates that the colonists still saw themselves as British subjects, but desired more expansive liberties. Get the 3X5 Bunker Hill Flag only $24.99 Continental Flag

Grand Union / Continental Flag Also known as the Continental flag, the Grand Union Flag 1775 is the first true US flag. Combining the British King's Colours and the 13 stripes that represented the 13 Colonies, the flag symbolized unity. The favorite design of George Washington, he chose it to be flown at the formation of the Continental Army on New Year's Day, 1776. The Grand Union flag was raised that day on Prospect Hill in Somerville, near Washington's headquarters at Cambridge, Massachusetts. This flag, featuring an elongated canton and blue and red stripes, was first raised over the Guilfoed Courthouse by General Greene on March 15, 1781. his militia stemmed the British advance in the Carolinas, forcing them back toward the coast in one of the bloodiest battles of the Revolution. Great white sharks in the Atlantic Ocean migrate each year between "the northern and southern parts of their range," which stretches from Newfoundland to the eastern Gulf of Mexico, researchers say.

The group named the the apex predator Ironbound after Canada's West Ironbound Island.

A 12-foot, 4-inch long great white shark is swimming off the South Carolina coast about a year after it vanished near the New Jersey shore.

A ping occurs when the spot tag on the shark's dorsal fin is above water long enough (about 90 seconds) for it to be picked up by satellite.

The most recent sighting marked the first time researchers detected Ironbound since the shark vanished from the tracking site in April 2022, when it pinged off New Jersey’s coastline.
