The parade was part of a four-day celebration downtown to mark the beginning of Pride Month. Organizers expect 30,000 people to participate in the month of festivities that celebrate and advocate for the LGBTQ community.

Mascot Steely McBeam and members of the Pittsburgh Steelers front office staff represented the team at the 2022 Pride Revolution Parade in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Actor Billy Porter was the parade’s grand marshal. Pittsburgh has had a pride parade annually since 1973. The weekend’s events will continue with a street festival in Bloomfield on Sunday.

Former Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib came out as the NFL’s first active openly gay player in 2021. Nassib was released by the Raiders in March and is currently a free agent.
