Andrew Cuomo appeared to be making progress in negotiations by the early afternoon.

Two lesbian and gay greats, Harvey Milk and Billie Jean King, will be honored Wednesday with a Medal of Freedom at the White House. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will host the ceremony in the East Room of the White House around 3 p.m.

Forty-two professional athletes and figures in pro sports have sent a friend of the court brief to the Supreme Court supporting marriage equality in a case next week challenging California's Proposition 8. The brief was spearheaded by Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Baltimore Ravens and Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings, who were both honored by GLAAD last weekend for their outward support of LGBT rights. Supporters of the brief include openly gay retired athletes, Robbie Rogers, Esera Tuaolo, Wade Davis, Jr., David Kopay, as well as out Minnesota Lynx player Seimone Augustus.

Buffalo residents Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd plan to marry at midnight this Sunday in a ceremony billed as the first wedding under the new marriage equality law in New York. Lambert and Rudd will marry at the stroke of midnight on Luna Island at the foot of Niagara Falls, a popular weddings destination which for the first time will be lit in the colors of the rainbow, according to a news release from New Yorkers United for Marriage, the bipartisan coalition of five LGBT advocacy organizations that campaigned for the new law.

The parents of a high school freshman in Amherst, N.Y., who killed himself told CNN that their son had endured pervasive antigay bullying beginning in fifth grade, both at school and particularly online.
