Brainerd and Crow Wing County: Neither of the local governments have received new flags, and it has not yet been determined when they will.
Kasson: In Dodge County's largest city, the City Council has not discussed the issue of changing the flag, said Mayor Chris McKern. The city is still flying the old Minnesota flag. McKern said he's personally not a fan of the new flag, and has three flags at his private business — the U.S. flag, the MIA-POW flag and the old Minnesota state flag. "I have no intention on changing it," McKern said.
Minnesota turned 166 years old Saturday, May 11, and for its birthday, it officially received a new state flag and seal. Now, as the first week of official business unfurls, the question remains, where will the new flag do the same?
Fillmore County: County Administrator Bobbie Hillery said Fillmore Count is flying two flags: The U.S. flag and the POW-MIA flag. This comes after the county board decided a few months ago to forego flying the new flag until the county knew which direction the Minnesota Legislature would take on the flag issue. “I think the board is happy with the flags they have,” Hillery said.Commissioner Duane Bakke, the board chairman, said the county’s decision is less about making a political statement or getting in the middle of the flag brouhaha, and more about getting out of the discussion until a final decision is made.He added that there is no state statute that counties must fly the Minnesota flag in front of government buildings. “There’s no mandate they need to fly the Minnesota flag,” Bakke said. “Right now, we have no intention of flying it, but that could change.”Bakke added that while he didn’t have a problem with the idea of redesigning the flag, the design the Legislature approved wasn’t one he would have chosen. “I was surprised with the flag they ended up with,” he said.
Becker County: Don't look for the new state flag flying over the Becker County Courthouse any time soon. The County Board on Feb. 6 voted against the new state flag design, unanimously approving a resolution of opposition. Becker County flies the American flag and the POW-MIA flag outside on the flag pole at the courthouse. Inside, it displays the American flag, the old Minnesota flag and the county flag in the commissioner's meeting room. The City of Detroit Lakes was not flying the new state flag on Monday, and none of the state agencies in Detroit Lakes were flying the new state flag on Monday, either.
Willmar: As of Monday afternoon, the new state flag — bearing the dark blue shape of Minnesota, an eight-pointed North Star and a light blue field symbolizing the state's waters — was nowhere to be found on city, county or state buildings in Willmar. The only state flag being flown in Willmar Monday was at the Flags of Honor memorial and the Willmar Municipal Utilities' auditorium, which were both still flying the retired Minnesota state flag.

The Australian National Anthem is also one of our most important national symbols. Each state and territory also has its own symbols which are further detailed in this booklet.

Some local government officials are busy lowering the old flag for the last time and raising the new one, while others plan to take their time or in some cases, not partake in the change at all. The new flag, featuring a "star of the north", dark blue K-shape meant to mimic the state's shape and blue color symbolizing Minnesota waters, has been met with a significant amount of criticism, both for its design and for the idea of changing it.
