TALLAHASSEE – Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed the 2024 Memorial Day Proclamation, honoring our nation’s fallen service members. The U.S. and Florida flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to noon on Memorial Day in their memory.
The procession is expected to depart from the funeral home at approximately 1:30 p.m., traveling south on Hamilton Ave., crossing over Highway 78 onto Alabama Ave. It will then proceed to Highway 27, heading south, and end at Mount Holly Church, 4685 US-27, Carrollton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. at Mount Holly with Clay Patterson, Kim Hope, Sheriff Terry Langley and Chaplin Keith Jiles officiating. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and members of other law enforcement agencies will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Bristow — a six-year veteran of the department — was critically injured Aug. 20 when a Carrollton man under investigation for child expoitation shot himself, also striking the investigator. Bristow underwent surgery the same day at Grady Hospital but died early Saturday morning, sheriff’s officials said.
