WHEREAS: There can be no compromise with, or equivocation about, evil of this kind. Arkansas supports Israel’s right to defend itself completely.

WHEREAS: Arkansans stand in support of our Israeli allies as they fight this war and chase the terrorists out of their country; and

WHEREAS: The terrorists are supported by adversaries of America and Israel, including the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hezbollah. They not only want to destroy Israel but are also the enemies of the United States and every other civilized nation on earth;

Its primary function is to indicate to a MS-DOS/MS Windows-type boot loader which partition to boot. In some cases it is used by Windows XP/2000 to assign the active partition the letter "C:".[3] The active partition is the partition where the boot flag is set. DOS and Windows allow only one boot partition to be set with the boot flag.[4]

Some BIOSes test if the boot flag of at least one partition is set, otherwise they ignore the device in boot-order. Therefore, even if the bootloader does not need the flag, it has to be set to start the boot code from BIOS.[6]

Governor Greg Abbott Monday also ordered Texas flags across the state to be lowered to half-staff to honor those who lost their lives, which also includes American citizens, during the heinous acts of war carried out against the State of Israel and its people by the terrorist organization Hamas.

A boot flag is a 1-byte value in a non-extended partition record, within a master boot record. It appears at the beginning of a partition record, as the value 0x80. A value of 0x00 indicates the partition does not have the boot flag set.[1][2] Any other value is invalid.

Dear Colonel McCraw:Pursuant to Chapter 3100 of the Texas Government Code, flags of the State of Texas on all state buildings, facilities, and offices are ordered to half-staff immediately to honor those who lost their lives during the heinous acts of war carried out against Israel and its people, which also killed Americans in Israel. Other boot loaders used by third-party boot managers (such as GRUB or XOSL) can be installed to a master boot record and can boot primary or extended partitions, which do not have the boot flag set.

Proclamations from both Arkansas' and Texas' Governors are requesting that State flags be lowered to half-staff for most of this week to honor those who have lost their lives in Israel this week.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has ordered Arkansas State Flags to half-staff starting October 10th until October 13th, to mourn the lives lost in Israel and show solidarity with the Israeli people.

There are many disk editors that can modify the boot flag, such as Disk Management in Windows,[5] GPartEd in Linux, and fdisk.

Individuals, businesses, municipalities, and other political subdivisions and entities are encouraged to fly the Texas flag at half-staff for the same period as a sign of honor and respect.

WHEREAS: On Saturday, October 7th, 2023, during the Jewish holy day of Simchat Torah, Hamas jihadist terrorists launched an unprovoked surprise attack against the people and nation of Israel, defying all legal and moral strictures;

WHEREAS: These terrorists have killed hundreds of innocent Israelis and at least nine Americans and taken more captive, striking against civilians and attacking the elderly, children, and non-combatant women and men. Their stated goal is the destruction of the nation of Israel and genocide against the Jewish people;
